5 Things to Consider When Hiring a Sparky

5 things when hiring a sparky.

Have you ever needed an electrician and not know where to begin looking. Here are some tips when making the decision for someone to come in and work on your largest investment.

Does the company maintain and posses the correct licensing for the state and/or municipality you live in?  In North Carolina you can check here:

Are they insured? Do they carry Workmans comp? You can request them to provide a Certificate of Insurance

What is their reputation? Do they have good reviews? Ask your neighbors and friends. Go to online reviews.

Does the company install new materials and stand behind their work? Ask them what brand or components they use.

Do the journeymen and apprentices attend continuing education to keep up with the latest code changes and industry standards?

How many years of Experience do the companies journeymen and apprentices have? You want the Journeyman to have at least 4 years of training in the field.

Leave electrical work to the professionals. Electrical systems are complex and potentially hazardous when not handled and installed correctly. If it were easy, it wouldn’t take 4 years to become a journeyman or 7 years for a master’s license.

Even for simple common electrical projects, a licensed pro is best. Not only is it safer, but contractors guarantee and insure their work. Hire a professional to keep your home’s electrical systems functioning properly and safely
